Future Competitiveness: Cost Reduction and Time-to-Market
As semiconductor process complexity skyrockets, the operational costs for fabrication plants (fabs) are increasing exponentially. The technical synergy between Advantest and Applied Materials will significantly reduce defect rates, leading to lower production costs, while simultaneously strengthening their capability for “time-to-market,” shortening the development time for complex chips. To secure the extreme reliability demanded in high-performance computing (HPC) and autonomous driving chip markets, the two companies plan to establish a data-sharing cloud platform to synchronize manufacturing data from global sites in real-time.
This demonstrates that semiconductor manufacturing is no longer solely a hardware domain, but is evolving into an integration of data and software.
